Anti-Racism Awareness

July 11th, 2024 marks the 29. anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, which began on the 11. of July 1995. For the Memorial Day 2024, we invite you to join us at de Klinker from 19:00 onwards, where we will host a movie streaming of the film ‘Quo Vadis Aida?’. Before the movie starts the historian & genocide scholar Marc van Berkel will also join to give a brief talk to contextualize the movie and answer questions.

We end Anti-Racism Awareness Week with a night focused on anti-raveism awareness. After a week of intellectualizing, we invite you to integrate everything you’ve learned and reflected on with some collective movement and liberation. Let’s imagine what a radical party space could be!

Muslim political resistance in the Face of Far-Right Hegemony- Strategies and Challenges: In societies grappling with the rise of far-right ideologies, i.e. West-European countries, Muslim communities emerge as resilient agents of political resistance. This lecture explores the resistance tactics employed by Muslims to counteract the influence of far-right agendas.

What does it mean to ‘decolonize’ a curriculum? Are curricula colonial to begin with? In this guided discussion, supplemented by some historical information on colonialism and its relation to Dutch universities, we will discuss these questions and how their answers may change depending on our roles as students, teachers, researchers or administrators, regardless of where we come from.

How do Israeli Universities deny Palestinian Freedom? Israeli universities have long enjoyed a reputation as liberal bastions of freedom and democracy. Drawing on extensive research and making Hebrew sources accessible to the International community, Dr. Maya Wind shatters the myth and documents how Israeli universities are directly complicit in the violation of Palestinian rights.
